Tree Planting
The right species, put in the right spot, prepped for Houston's clay soil. That is most of what makes a new tree take.
Chapter 01
The wrong tree in the wrong place
Most of the planting problems we get called out to fix started on day one, not five years later. Someone picked a species that never had a real chance in Houston's heavy clay, or a fast-growing shade tree went in six feet from the foundation, and now its roots are working against the slab instead of just holding the yard together. By the time it shows up as a cracked walkway or a stressed, yellowing canopy, the fix is a lot more expensive than getting the placement right the first time.
Clay soil in this part of Texas drains slowly and compacts hard, which punishes a tree that was bred for looser, sandier ground. A species picked without that in mind can sit there half alive for years, never quite dying and never quite thriving, which is its own kind of disappointing outcome for whoever paid for it.

Species, soil and size
We choose species for Houston's actual soil and climate, not for a catalog photo, and we prep the planting hole before anything goes in the ground rather than just digging a hole the size of the root ball. That prep is what gives roots somewhere to expand into instead of hitting a wall of undisturbed clay a foot down.
Size is a real decision too, not just a budget line. We plant everything from 30-gallon saplings, which establish fast and are easier on a tight yard, up to 200-gallon shade trees for a property that wants mature canopy without waiting fifteen years for it. Whichever size fits the job, we set up a watering plan at the same visit, because a newly planted tree that gets watered wrong in its first summer is the single most common way a planting job fails.
Chapter 03
The first two years decide it
A tree that survives its first two years in the ground is a tree that is going to make it. Those two years are where the aftercare guidance we give every planting customer actually matters: how often to water through a Houston summer, when to back off, and what stress actually looks like on that specific species versus normal seasonal change.

Clearing ground before you plant
If an old stump or overgrowth is sitting where the new tree should go, we can grind it out first so the roots have real ground to grow into rather than a buried root mass from whatever was there before. We work planting jobs across Houston, Spring, The Woodlands and the rest of our service area.
